Personal and Family Worship

It can be challenging to know how or where to start when leading your family in worship. To help, each Lord’s Day our church bulletin includes a simple guide you can use throughout the week for family worship. This same guide can also be adapted for personal devotions. We encourage you to begin by watching the video interview with Dr. Joel Beeke and then explore the resources provided. Our prayer is that these tools will draw your family closer together in the Lord and deepen your love for Jesus Christ.

Hear Dr. Joel Beeke share a practical approach to guiding your family in worship.

Personal/Family Worship Bible Guide

Copies of the Family Worship Bible Guide are available at the church for you to take and keep. It can be used for personal and family worship. The Reformation Heritage Study Bible, which also contains the Family Worship Bible Guide in the study notes, can be purchased from Reformation Heritage Books.

The A.C.T.S. Method of Prayer

Prayer is a privilege and a gift—our direct line to our loving Father. The A.C.T.S. method offers a simple way to keep our prayers balanced and focused on God.

A – Adoration

Begin by praising God for who He is—His holiness, love, power, and mercy. Let your heart be lifted in worship.

“Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!” (Psalm 8:1)

C – Confession

Next, honestly confess your sins to God, trusting in His promise to forgive and restore.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

T – Thanksgiving

Give thanks for God’s goodness—His daily provisions, answered prayers, and the gift of salvation in Christ.

“Give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

S – Supplication

Finally, bring your requests to God, asking for His help, guidance, and provision for yourself and others.

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Whether prayed privately or together, the A.C.T.S. pattern keeps our focus on God’s glory, our need for His grace, and His faithful care for His people.

Trinity Psalter Hymnal

Our congregation uses the Trinity Psalter Hymnal for worship—a rich collection of psalms and hymns that exalt the Lord. This hymnal can be accessed online or through a convenient phone app, making it easy to use in personal devotions, family worship, or group settings. It is a valuable resource for learning and singing the psalms and hymns we use on Sundays, helping you prepare your heart and voice for gathered worship.

Physical copies of the Hymnal can be purchased here.
